ABOUT
Hi, I'm Charles R. Ward

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
My journey of service to Ozark spans more than 40 years, beginning with my earliest role as a dispatcher for our local police and fire departments. From those formative experiences, I went on to serve as a firefighter and emergency medical technician with Pilcher Ambulance, where I learned the vital importance of rapid emergency response and compassionate community care.
My career path led me to the Alabama State Troopers, where I progressed through every rank from Corporal to Colonel, ultimately commanding all uniformed troopers across our state. Even while overseeing statewide operations, I maintained my deep roots in Ozark – this community has always been my home and my heart.
Upon returning to local service, I was honored to serve as Ozark's Police Chief and later as Director of Public Safety, where I've worked to strengthen coordination between our police and fire departments. My completion of the prestigious Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program demonstrates my ongoing commitment to professional excellence in public service.
VISION FOR OZARK
As your Mayor, I will bring this lifetime of experience to bear on building a stronger future for Ozark. My leadership will focus on:
Transparent, Accountable Government
I believe in open communication and fiscal responsibility. Residents deserve to know how decisions are made and how their tax dollars are spent.
Public Safety Excellence
With my unique background in law enforcement, fire services, and emergency medical response, I will ensure Ozark remains one of Alabama's safest communities while fostering positive relationships between residents and first responders.
Responsible Growth
We must preserve Ozark's small-town character while making smart investments in infrastructure and creating economic opportunities that benefit all residents.
Community Unity
Just as every member of a hive contributes to its success, every Ozark resident has valuable gifts to share. I will work to bring people together across neighborhoods and organizations to address our challenges and celebrate our successes.
This August, I ask for your trust and your vote. Together, we can build an Ozark that honors its past while embracing a bright future – a community where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
